Library at Mount Anville

The Library

The library is situated on the third floor of the Junior School. Each class from 1st to 6th visit the library each week on a given day for 30 minutes. During this time the students have the opportunity to choose from a large selection of fiction and non-fiction titles which they can then borrow and bring home with them to read. In the fiction section we stock authors from Enid Blyton to David Walliams and in the non-fiction section a range of subjects are catered for, from Art to Science.

Throughout the year a number of book related activities take place in the Montessori Junior School. In the month of November we hold an annual Book Fair for all age groups and the school receives a commission based on the amount of books sold which is used to restock the library each year.

We celebrate World Book Day in Mount Anville every year. All the students in the school are invited to dress up as a character from a favourite book. A number of activities take place throughout the day, including storytelling for the younger children and a book quiz for the older ones.

Throughout the year we invite authors in to visit the school and talk to the children about their work, their inspirations and what life is like as an author. We have had many esteemed authors visit over the years, including Judi Curtin, P.J. Lynch, Sarah Webb and Marita Conlon-McKenna.

There is a Library Committee in the school made up of volunteer parents who assist the librarian during library time and with events such as the Book Fair and World Book Day.
